CASE STUDY:

CLASS DIVIDE

TASK

Explore the sensitive and complex themes of gentrification and socioeconomic inequality that formed the narrative basis of the HBO Documentary Film Class Divide.

ANSWER

Through a series of workshops lead by Street Dreams, students learned the fundamentals of photography and received hands on training from seasoned professionals. The program gave the participants all the resources needed to have their respective views displayed in a gallery on the High Line.

HBO worked with Street Dreams to curate a diverse range of viewpoints from the captured photography that was displayed in the weekend prior to the premiere of CLASS DIVIDE on HBO.

On September 29, 2016 the Views from the Block Gallery opened with a special VIP reception for press, influencers, documentary talent, partner organizations, our participants, and their families. The gallery was open and accessible to all park guests, for the next three days, September 30-October 2.

  • In total, 61,374 guests visited the park during the Views From the Block gallery flight
